Policy makers haven’t done enough to enforce accountability or address the weak laws that allow police brutality to continue, but voters can take preemptive action.

Voter participation matters. Attorney generals, judges, and sheriffs are elected positions in most states. Where they are not elected, they are usually appointed by politicians who are elected. These individuals dramatically influence our criminal justice system, so it is important they act in the interest of our community. When leaders stop caring about the people they pledged to protect, we all suffer.
